چکیده

We present the results of a study performed on the interactions of 10.6A GeV gold nuclei in nuclear emulsions. In a minimum bias sample of 1311 interactions, 5260 helium nuclei and 2622 heavy fragments were observed as Au projectile fragments. The experimental data are analyzed with particular emphasis of target separation interactions in emulsions and study of critical exponents. Multiplicity distributions of the fast-moving projectile fragments are investigated. Charged fragment moments, conditional moments as well as two and three body asymmetries of the fast moving projectile particles are determined in terms of the total charge remaining bound in the multiply charged projectile fragments. Some di erences in the average yields of helium nuclei and heavier fragments are observed, which may be attributed to a target e ect. However, two and three-body asymmetries and conditional moments indicate that the breakup mechanism of the projectile seems to be independent of target mass. We looked for evidence of critical point observable in nite nuclei by study the resulting charged fragments distributions. We have obtained the values for the critical exponents , and and compare our results with those at lower energy experiment (1.0A GeV data). The values suggest that a phase transition like behavior, is observed .

Comparative Study of Multifragmentation of Gold Nuclei Induced by Relativistic Protons , 4 He , and 12

Multiple emission of intermediate-mass fragments has been studied for the collisions of p, He and C on Au with the 4π setup FASA. The mean IMF multiplicities (for the events with at least one IMF) are saturating at the value of 2.2 ± 0.2 for the incident energies above 6 GeV. The observed IMF multiplicities cannot be described in a two-stage scenario, a fast cascade followed by a statistical mu...

Nuclear multifragmentation induced by electromagnetic fields of ultrarelativistic heavy ions

We study the disintegration of nuclei by strong electromagnetic fields induced by ultrarelativistic heavy ions. The proposed multi-step model includes 1) the absorption of a virtual photon by a nucleus, 2) intranuclear cascades of produced hadrons and 3) statistical decay of the excited residual nucleus. The combined model describes well existing data on projectile fragmentation at energy 200 G...

Multifragmentation through Exotic Shape Nuclei in α(5GeV/u) + Au Reactions

We simulate the fragmentation processes in the α + Au collisions at a bombarding energy of 5 GeV/u using the simplified RQMD approach plus the statistical decay model. We find from the simulation that the angulardistribution of the intermediate mass fragments has a sideward peak, more strongly in the transverse direction than in the beam-direction, when the intermediate nucleus formed by the dy...

2 00 4 Multifragmentation Studies in 84 Kr Interactions with Nuclear Emulsion at around 1 A GeV

Projectile fragmentation of 84 Kr in three different energy intervals has been studied. Many aspects of multifragmentation process have been examined in depth. It is observed that multifragmentation is a general low energy phenomenon associated with heavy beam. The number of Intermediate-Mass-Fragments (IMF's) shows strong projetile mass dependence.
